Unionists from Greek Police, Fire Brigades and Coast Guard gathered outside the Defense Ministry on Tuesday morning and demanded from Minister Panos Kammenos to implement previous court decisions, restore wage cuts and avoid further cuts on special payrolls.
They also ask that the Defense ministry allocates resources also for Police, Coast Guard and Fire brigades and not just for the Army.
They chanted slogans “The money belongs to Greek people not to the Army!” and “Kammenos recall your promises and if you can’t, go resign!”
They said that they will continue their protest until they get justice.
The protest of the Uniformed is the first of the day. At 6 pm civil servants union ADEDY will launch a protest in downtown Athens against privatizations of state-run enterprises like the Water and Electricity companies and the Attica Metro as dictated by the third bailout.
In Thessaloniki, Northern Greece, personnel at the public transport company (OASTH) will launch a protest demanding wages of several months. The city of half a million people has been without public transport buses for eleven consecutive days.
