Authorities investigate the capital controls imposed end of June 2015 in Greece. The investigation has been ongoing for the last two months and is being conducted “secretly” [sic].
Dozens of citizens have reportedly filed complaints claiming “economic hardship” due to capital controls as they were unable to cover basic needs or expenses for health issues like the purchase of medication.
The investigation conducted by the prosecutor at the First Instance Court in Athens focuses on the time period after Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras addressed the nation until the imposition of capital controls by finance minister Yanis Varoufakis and Bank of Greece governor Yannis Stournaras.
If I remember well, the period between Tsipras’ address to the nation and the enforcement of capital controls was three days, over a weekend.
The prosecutor assigned to investigation has already took testimonies by some ten citizens but also economists in order to find out whether the imposed bank restrictions were “really necessary.”
Authorities investigate the commitment of criminal offenses, including this of “high treason.”
KTG understands that no former or current government or bank official has been invited to testify so far.
Depending on the findings, authorities might need to submit the case to parliament especially if a legal case would affect ministers.
For the time being, investigations seems to still need time to conclude.
PS meanwhile, the same text of the news about the “secret” investigation has been spread across the Greek internet – it means that somebody gave it to the press and no journalist made own report or conducted own investigation on the issue.
The only high treason and genocide committed here is that by Mr Draghi and his 4th Reich masters against 10 million people.
