Tsipras attends ceremonies for Fidel Castro in Havanna

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras arrived in Havanna at 10 o’ clock in Tuesday morning and is among the few leaders to attend the ceremonies in honor of Cuba’s maximo lider Fidel Castro who passed away at the age of 90.

“It is a great honor to be here in Cuba, covering thousands of kilometers, to pay tribute to a great leader who inspired not only the Cuban people and the peoples of Latin America, but also the revolutionary flame across the globe,” Tsipras said upon his arrival adding  “The people, no matter how far they are, come together on shared values and common aims. And the value of social justice, social liberation is what unites people.”

The Greek Prime Minister is one of the few world leaders who will attend the ceremonies in honor of legendary Fidel Castro. He will deliver an eulogy.

One after the other, heads of states and governments declared that they will not attend the events and sent lower-ranking representatives.

Apparently, they got scared to be scold as supporters of the “Cuban Revolution”. Many have buried deep in their heart the dreams of their youth.

Central and Latin American countries will be represented in highest level.

Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder and former Spanish King Juan Carlos will attend the official ceremony that takes place Tuesday afternoon in Revolution Square in Havanna.
