The oldest member of the Greek National Guard is 92 years old and lives on the island of Rhodes. His name is Zisimos Brantis. He met Minister of Defense, Panos Kammenos, during the Military Drill “Parmenion 2017”.
“In 1974, I was at the fort waiting but unfortunately no Turk came over. As long as I am here, no one will pass!” the old and fragile looking man told the minister.
Kammenos awarded the ageless member of the National Guard. In his speech the Defense Minister praised the participation of the Greek Armed Forces and the National Guard. “The living example is our 92-year-old commando who is currently at the forefront of monitoring the exercise,” Kammenos said.
