PS A friend in need is a friend indeed 😛
UPDATE
Short time later and after strong reactions by opposition parties and social media users, Greek Defense Minister Panos Kammenos clarified that the 2.4billion USD are not for the upgrade of F-16 only.
Η οροφή για την αναβάθμιση των F-16 από τον προϋπολογισμό είναι 1,1δις € τα υπόλοιπα ποσά αφορούν προγράμματα βοήθειας και αντισταθμιστικά
— Panos Kammenos (@PanosKammenos) October 17, 2017
“The budget cap for the F-16 upgrading is $1.1bn, the rest is for aid and compensatory programs,” Kammenos tweeted.
PS as if it will make a difference…
So where will Greece get the $2.4 billion from? Surely this has no connection to the USA wanting to arrange a 5 Year lease for the base in Souda in Crete instead of keep renewing the 1 year contract?
