Greek National Meteorological Service EMY has issued a weather forecast warning of strong rainfalls, thunderstorms and stormy winds up to 8 and 9 Beaufort coming from North-West, especially from the north Ionian Sea. Hail falls are expected locally.
The extreme weather phenomena have already set in on Monday evening, November 6th 2017.
The bad weather front is expected to last until Wednesday evening, Nov 8th.
Tue, Nov 7
The bad weather will affect initially the North Ionian Sea and gradually move to the south Ionian islands, West Sterea, West Macedonia and West Peloponnese.
Wed, Nov 8
in addition to the regions mentioned above, affected will be also Central Macedonia, Thrace, islands in the North-East Aegean Sea, possibly also other regions of the mainland.
The phenomena are expected to weaken as of Wednesday night, however, thunderstorms will strike Corfu also in the night to Thursday, and strong rainfalls also in Crete during the first half of the day.
