Police sees same group behind PASOK HQ attack as against Mexican & French embassies

Greek police sees the urban guerilla group called “Revolutionary Self-Defense” as  behind the attack at the headquarters of PASOK in downtown Athens on Monday evening.

According to athensnewsagency, the suggestion is confirmed by the findings of a ballistic investigation released on Tuesday.

Quoting a statement by Greek police, AMNA notes, that the guerilla group first appeared on May 25, 2014 when it fired on PASOK’s offices using a Kalashnikov rifle. The second attack targeted the Mexican Embassy on August 31, 2016, followed by another attack against the French Embassy on November 10, 2016. The last attack prior to that on Monday night occurred in January 2017 and had again targeted the offices of the PASOK party, leading to the injury of a police guard.

  1. How can firing at PASOK HQ be considered revolutionary or self defence in Greece today?? This lame, almost-dead party that stands for nothing and is thankfully headed toward the knacker’s yard. Maybe because it is the only Greek political party non-Greeks have ever heard of and – therefore – this action seems aimed at international audiences and getting a “Terrorism” label to not only punish tourism next year, but bring about emergency police measures. I wonder why “revolutionary” Greeks would do that and for such a meaningless target.
