Sixteen rioters arrested on Friday night in Exarchia district of Athens are to be brought to the prosecutor on Saturday.
According to a statement by Greek Police the nationalities of the arrested are:
Nine Greeks aged 18-32
Two French, 22 and 26 years old
Two German 30 and 37
One Italian 27
One Lithuanian 20
One Iraqi 19
They face several charges incl felony and offenses for dangerous bodily harm, attempted dangerous bodily harm, attempt to dangerous bodily harm through arson, distinct cases of damage, violations of the arms and drugs legislation.
It is not clear whether among the arrested are also those who fired a flare and seriously injured a woman lawyer, currently hospitalized in serious condition in an Athens Hospital.
In a coordinated operation around midnight police detained a total of 39 people. Many of them had tried to seek refugee in building entrances. 23 people were later released as there was no evidence that they were involved in the riots.
Six policemen have been reportedly slightly injured form items rioters were throwing from roof tops of surrounding buildings in the area.
