Humanitarian aid sent to flash floods victims lands abandoned in the forest

Trousers, blouses, shirts, jackets, pullovers, brand new children shoes …. the humanitarian aid ordinary citizens sent to people hit by the flash floods is simple left in the woods near Mandra.

The pictures showing the abandoned clothes in the forest of Kiafa were shot by social media users and uploaded on Facebook.

Clothes of all seizes and colors lay in the woods, next to them the empty boxes in which they were transported.

The pictures triggered an outrage and many questions about what happen to the humanitarian aid people donate to help their fellowmen when they are hit by natural disasters.

Local authorities deny any involvement in the issue.

According to private ANT1 TV, the mayor of Mandra, Ιoanna Kriekouki, said that the Municipality is responsible only for clothing donations that are brought to the municipality premises.

The perpetrators remain unknown. And they will be probably never found…
