A British national was stabbed in the abdomen several times in Kato Korakiana village on the island of Corfu in the early morning hours of Saturday. The man whose aged is given as “between 40 and 50 years old” is a permanent resident in the village for the last few years.
According to local media and state broadcaster ERT, the man knocked the door of a neighbor in the early morning hours of Saturday and sought for help.
The neighbor informed the ambulance, the man was immediately transferred to the hospital were he underwent surgery. He had several injuries in the abdomen caused by a knife.
Doctors consider that his life is reportedly not at risk.
The circumstances of the stabbing are not known, authorities are awaiting for him to recover in order to give a testimony.
The neighbor was not in position to give details about the incident..
Police investigates all options, considering as most possible one the option of a criminal act.
