Two more ex ministers file lawsuits against “protected witnesses” in Novartis bribery case

A former finance and an ex health minister filed lawsuits against the protected witnesses in Novartis bribery case. Evangelos Venizelos (PASOK) and Adonis Georgiadis (New Democracy) filed lawsuits against the protected witnesses on Tuesday, two weeks after the scandal broke out and the report by the corruption prosecutor alleged that two fromer prime ministers and eight minister received bribed by the Novartis in the years 2010-2015.

Speaking to media, Venizelos said he filed a lawsuit against one of the three protected witnesses on whose testimony the prosecutor built the case.

“The witness spluttered out my name in a way that is self-evidently mendacious, “Venizelos said. He spoke of “blatant perjury” and “slander” and said “an abuse of power against me has been committed.”

Also former health minister Adonis Georgiadis filed against all three protected witnesses – “false witnesses” as he called them – for perjury, slanderous defamation and false misrepresentation.

Last week former prime minister Antonis Samaras and ex health minister, now EU Migration Commissioner, Dimitris Avramopoulos, filed law suits against the witnesses and even prime minister Alexis Tsipras (Samaras).
