63-year-old missing Archimandrite in Mani found dead in the sea

The missing archimandrite in the Metropolis of Mani, Andreas Mpolovinos was found dead in his car on Tuesday afternoon. The car had sunk in the sea area of Kamares in Gytheio.

The 63-year-old prior was missing since Monday afternoon when he left for a ride.

A search and rescue operation was launched in the area, hours later his car was spotted under water in upside down position.

A diver made the tragic finding.

Local media suggest that his car may have been swept by the extreme weather phenomena last night in the area. He was allegedly on the way to a grave of another high-ranking official of the local church to check whether there was damages due to the bad weather.

Andreas Mpolovinos was Archimandrite in the Metropolis of Mani, South Peloponnese.

He was born in Corfu.

He was very known and beloved in the area of Mani for his charitable work.
