Greek PM Tsipras calls on Turkey to give up “tension escalating rhetoric”

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras called on Turkey to give up escalating rhetoric towards Greece and speed up the return of the two Greek soldiers as a good will gesture. The soldiers who accidentally entered Turkish soil are still in custody in high prison in Edirne on the 34th day and without that the prosecutor has raised charges.

“We are not threatening anyone, but we are not afraid of anyone and we call on our neighbors to leave aside the tension escalating rhetoric that leads to impasse,” Tsipras said at a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday. “when you have problems at home, you don’t mess up with your neighbor.”

The Greek Prime Minister urged Turkey to stop the attacks and act as quickly as possible and speed up the return of the two Greek soldiers as a pasture of good will.

He added that Turkey was “in a state of tension.”
