Ferries, ships to remain docked due to Greece’s sailors 24h strike

The Greek Seamen Federation has announced it will launch a 24-hour strike on Wednesday, April 18th 2018. The strike will affect all types of ships and ferries that will remain docked as of 06:00 a.m. on the strike day.

In a statement, the Federation PNO said the strike aims to protest against austerity measures like pension cuts,  labor conditions and delayed salary payments. But also a recent decision by the Maritime Ministry that will allow freighters to sail with a minimum “safe manning” crews.

The Seamen’s Federation warns of escalation of their protest actions.

If you plan to travel per ship or ferry on that date, please, contact local port authorities and travel agents.
