Gap between SYRIZA and ND narrows in latest public opinion poll

The gap between ruling left-wing SYRIZA and main opposition party conservative New Democracy is narrowing, according to the most recent public opinion poll. The gap has decreased to 4.7% from 4.9% in a poll in February conducted by the same company. At the same time, Tsipras’ junior coalition partner Independent Greeks (ANEL) do not seem to enter the Parliament as it is permanently missing the 3% threshold in surveys, despite leader Panos Kammenos nationalistic rhetoric towards Turkey and as well as to the Macedonia name issue.

SYRIZA 16.7%

ND 21.4%

Golden dawn 6%

Movement of Change (PASOK) 5.4%

KKE 5.3%

ANEL 1.8%

Centrists’ Union 1.8%

Popular Unity (2.5%) seems to gain voters apparently due to its foreclosures-protests.

The rate of undecided voters remains high with 17.1% as well as the rate of those declaring that they will not go to ballot boxes (11.8%).

40% oppose snap elections in 2018.

The poll was conducted by Alco for news website news247.gr in the time 11-16 April 2018.
