Policeman among 3 men identified to be involved in Boutaris attack

Three more men have been identified to have participated in the mass attack against the mayor of Thessaloniki, Yiannis Boutaris, last Saturday, Greek police announced late on Thursday.

The three men are aged 43, 44 and 67.

They face charges for insult and disruption of public peace. They are to be taken to prosecutor.

The 44-year-old is a policeman serving in office duty at the Greek Police headquarters in Thessaloniki. No internal disciplinary investigation has started so far.

One Wednesday, police identified one more man, a 41-year-old, who was walking next to Boutaris and swearing at him holding a little child in his arms.

Three other men were sentenced to 14-21 months imprisonment, however, suspended and on bail.

Police continues investigation evaluating rich footage shot during the attack on Yiannis Boutaris.

    May I ask from Greek friends here in Greece to answer this question. If this was the USA, the media would be saying. “Attention: If you recognize anyone from the video attacking the mayor etc, please contact police at this number and then they would publish the number of the police team investigating the attack. I’m glad the police are finding the perpatrators but it could be much easier if they enlist the publics help to find out who all these individuals are?
