The reason for the accident is not known yet, traffic police suggests high speed.

The accident occurred on the lane to Kavala, near Karvali in Northern Greece.

According to local media, the van was carrying 16 to 17 migrants, reportedly Iranian nationals.

Among the dead are three children and the human smuggler, state broadcaster ERT reported.

In the last few months, more and more migrants have been entering Greece from Evros river, the natural border with Turkey.
