Buses and trolley buses in Athens will not operate from 12 o’ clock noon until 5 o’ clock afternoon on Thursday, June 14th. The work stoppage is to take place following a decision by the union of workers at the the Athens Urban Transportation Organisation (OASA).
Reason for the stoppage is that all workers can attend a general assembly meeting.
Buses will gradually start returning to the depots as of 11:00 a.m., and be fully running by 18:00 or later.
The strike will affect all bus schedules, including the buses to and from the Athens International Airport.
Staff are planning to discuss how to prevent the shutdown of the bus depot at Elliniko, the premises of the old Athens airport that have been privatized.
Also workers at Metro Lines 2 and 3 will launch a work stoppage, the Metro will operate only between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.
