The murderer of the 13-year-old Roma girl has surrendered to police a week after the tragedy. The local butcher was taken to police station in Amfissa, Central Greece late on Monday. He was allegedly hiding on the mountain for a week allegedly fearing retaliation by the small Roma community.
The 34-year-old perpetrator reportedly surrendered to police following the advise and the mediation of his lawyer.
He was taken to Amfissa Police headquarters under heavy security measures around 10 o’ clock at night.
He will be taken to prosecutor to give testimony.
His lawyer said he did not intend to kill the girl.
The man shot and killed girl Yannoula on June 4th after a dispute with her father inside the small Roma settlement.
A day later, police arrested an Albanian employee of the butcher as alleged accomplice to the murder.
