Greek soldiers: Mothers protest outside Turkish Consulate in Thessaloniki

A group of mothers gathered outside the Turkish Consulate in Thessaloniki on Monday and demanded the immediate release of the two Greek soldiers in Turkish custody since March 1. Holding the pictures of Dimitris Kouklatzis and Aggelos Mitretodis, the group requested a meeting with the Turkish Consul. Their request was not satisfied.

The group calls itself “Greek mothers” and they say they do not belong to any organization. The call to the protest was conducted via the social media.

According to the voria.gr, the coordinating committee of the  Greek Bar Associations decided over the weekend to request that the European Bar Association immediately sends observers to Turkey as the “deadline set for the actions of ” neighboring country has passed without any result.

The two Greek soldiers remain in high security prison of Edirne, NW Turkey, without that hte prosecutor has pressed charges.
