“Snap elections? You’d better go for a swim,” Tsipras urges …

For one more time, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras rejected scenarios pushed around by main opposition conservative New Democracy for snap elections even in the summer months. After a meeting of SYRIZA Political Council, reporters waiting in the heat of  July afternoon asked him when the elections will take place.

“You’d better go for a swim, you look pale,” Tsipras urged the reporters.

New Democracy has been permanently pushing for early elections, in fact since Kyriakos Mitsotakis became leader of the party in February 2016. Mitsotakis efforts have been speed up in recent months nevertheless the Macedonia issue.

But Tsipras is not a fool to go to the polls before Greece exits the bailout program or short time after and miss a period which he can sell as success.

So, it’s true. Instead of wasting our time with non issues, let’s all go to the beach.
