Greece has launched an online platform where entrepreneurs can set up a new company in less than an hour. The new digital service, Electronic One Stop Shop, offers the possibility to every entrepreneur to avoid the notorious Greek bureaucracy and many coming and going to institutions and conclude the set of his company in fast track of even 15 minutes if he has all required data and documents at hand.
“Already this morning, the first company was set up in a procedure that started at 8:39 and concluded at 9:10,” the Secretary General of Commerce and Consumer Protection Dimitris Avlonitis told to athensnewsagency on Monday.
Eligible for the service is reportedly any Greek or EU national who in possession of Greek tax numbers and codes.
The service operates with digital signature, the use of founding statute and without the intervention of any other public service.
After concluding the procedure the company owner does not need to seek the tax office or the social security fund because they will be informed automatically.
The platform is initially available only to one-person companies. It is expected that by end of 2019, the service will extend to all other legal forms of companies.
The new service is free of charge for the first year of operation.
After this period of time, the cost will be 30 percent of the cost to set up a company in the traditional way that is 70% lower than in the traditional way.
The One Stop Shop portal is here (eyms.businessportal.gr) in Greek only.
Reducing bureaucracy is one of the reforms the country’s lenders have put pressure on from the very beginning. It took full 8 years. But better later than never.
I read here that eligible for the use of this service is any Greek or EU citizen.

Innovation is not an easy task.
“…if he has all required data and documents at hand…”
so, this is a joke. It will still take two years to get all those documents (and permits, etc)!
