A passenger ferry with 170 people on board crashed at the pier of the port of Skiathos in the island group of Sporades. Passenger ferry “Aqua Blue” crashed at 6:30 Sunday afternoon after arriving at the port.
The ferry suffered a small damage in a watertight section, its continuation of the journey has been forbidden until the damage is fixed and relevant authorities give safety certificate.
No injuries or maritime pollution have been reported.
Agua Blue was on a journey Herakleio (Crete)-Santorini-Naxos-Paros-Mykonos-Tinos-Syros-Andros-Skiathos. Its final destination was Thessaloniki.
The shipping company announced to transfer the 132 passengers who have booked for Thessaloniki to the port of Volos in the mainland from where they should continue their travel by bus.
102 passengers were waiting at the port of Skiathos in order to get on board of Aqua Blue and sail to Thessaloniki.
