A 7-year-old British girl drowned in the swimming pool of a hotel located in the south of the Greek island of Rhodes.
The girl was playing with the water in the swimming pool. She was found unconscious around 13:30 Wednesday noon. The child was wearing a mask and her head was outside the water, local media report.
An ambulance was called and the child was rushed to the hospital.
Despite the doctors’ effort, the girl passed away a few hours later.
The girl from UK was spending vacation with her family on Rhodes.
Police reportedly arrested the hotel lifeguard and filed a case “for exposure of a minor to danger.”
The deputy prosecutor on the island has been informed on the case.
It is not clear who found the girl.
