One arrested for stealing food donations aimed at fire-stricken people

Greek Police has arrested a 37-year-old man for having stolen food packages aimed at the fire-stricken population of Mati. A 49-year-old accomplice is on the run.

A guard at the Sports facility of Mati where food donations are collected and sorted out, spotted the two men last Monday.

The guard immediately called the police that arrested the one thief.

Search conducted in his car that was parked outside the sports facility found two food cartons. They were confiscated.

His accomplice, a Greek, is still on the run on Thursday, media report.

A file case against the 37-year-old has been filed.

Just a few days after the deadly fire, police had arrested another two Greeks who were looting burned and abandoned homes.
