Ferries to remain docked for another 24 hours, after unions extend strike

Greek Seamen’s Federation PNO decided on Monday to extend its strike for another 24 hours. Ferries remain docked and the strike will last until 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 5th 2018.

The seamen did not accept the proposal by ship owners for a 2-percent wage raise.

The PNO wants a wages increase of 5 percent.

The Federation had warned it would escalate its protest actions that refer to collective bargain, labor and pensions issues.

Media do not exclude a further extension of the strike as the PNO members will meet again on Tuesday to determine their position.

The strike started at 6:00 a.m. on Monday, September 3rd 2018. The strike schedule was initially for 24 hours, that is until 6:00 a.m. Tuesday, Sept 4.

With the decision on Monday, ferries will remain docked until 6:00 a.m. Sept 5.

If you plan to travel by sea, check with travel agencies and local port authorities.
