Ancient Greek child leaves footprint on clay brick, from Olympia to eternity

An Ancient Greek child left its footprint to eternity. Archaeologists in the excavation site in Ancient Olympia discovered the footprint of a child estimated to have been 6 years old when it stepped on a brick of clay still that was still fresh.

Archaeologists of the Institute of Hellenic Antiquities found the brick of clay  in the excavation of a Roman burial monument.

The clay baked in furnace is measuring 22 cm x 22 cm x 4.5 cm.

On it there was the child’s footprint.

Based on the size of the footprint archaeologists suggest that the child was up to six years old.

The clay is estimated to be dated from the 2nd century A.D.

The foot print allow us to revive the scene where the child kept running around without paying attention to the environment and even to have stepped on the raw bricks left to dry in the sun before burned in the furnace, notes ilialive.
