One more Golden Medal for the Greek “Lord of the Rings”. Lefteris Petounias won his third golden medal in a row. He scored 15,366 points in the final of the 48th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Doha, 266 points more than his closest rival.
Despite an injury on the left shoulder he competed with an amazing performance.
The 27-year-old Olympic Games Champion in Rio has so far won nine gold medals in several tournaments.
He is the 2016 Olympic champion, World champion in 2018, 2017 and 2015 World champion, and a five-time (2011/2015-18) European medalist on the still rings (four gold and one bronze).
Petounias is expected to undergo a surgery on Monday morning (November 5) in France.
“I’m a bit afraid of the surgery as I never had an operation on the shoulder, however, I’m waiting for it as I carry this pain for the last 10 months.” Petrounias told reporters after his victory.
