Greece’s National Meteorological Service EMY has issued a weather warning with main features the powerful rainfalls, storms, hale and gusty winds up to 8-9 and locally up to 10 Beaufort in the open seas. Two barometric lows will consequently strike Greece from Jan 23 to Jan 27, 2019, the bad weather that is called “Phoebus” will bring powerful rainfalls and storms almost across the country, locally hale-falls on the islands and the seaside of the mainland.

Gusty South winds up to 8 and 9 Beaufort will blow in the Aegean Sea until Saturday, Jan 26.
Temperature is expected to fall towards the end of the week, snowfalls are forecast also in areas of low altitude in the north of the country.

Early morning Central and East Macedonia, Thrace and by noon also the islands of the East Aegean Sea and the Dodecanese.
As of the afternoon, the islands in the Ionian Sea, Epirus and West Sterea, especially the sea side, as well as West and South Peloponnese.

On Jan 23rd and 25th, temporarily heavy snowfalls in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas of Epirus and West Macedonia.
Winds with a force of up to 8 and even 9 and locally 10 Beaufort will be blowing in the open seas, especially in the Aegean but also the Ionian Sea, Crete, Rhodes, Peloponnese.
