While the last few days were full with a bright sunshine and mild temperatures, the Greek National Meteorological Service has issued a warning of an extraordinary weather deterioration with heavy rainfalls and snow and temperature down by up to 12 degrees Celsius.
According to EMY, the weather will dramatically change as of Clean Monday night, March 11th 2019, and snow is expected also in Mountain Parnitha in the North of Athens on Tuesday night.
The bad weather front will sweep across Greece coming form the North-West and will bring heavy rainfalls, powerful storms accompanied by hailstorms, and gale-force winds up to 9 an locally 10 Beaufort.

As of the early morning hours the Ionian Sea and gradually the rest of West Greece. As of noon Thessaly, islands of the North and Eastern Aegean Sea, East Sterea, Attica, Evia, East Peloponnese, gradually also the Cyclades, Crete and the Dodecanese.
Wednesday, March 13
Early morning hours Attica, East Peloponnese, East Thessaly, SPorades islands, islands of the East Aegean and by noon also East Sterea, Evia, Cyclades; by afternoon also Crete and the Dodecanese.
Gale Force Winds
Wind intensity will reach 9 Beaufort and locally up to 10 Beaufort in the open seas on Tuesday and gradually weaken as of Wednesday afternoon.

Temperature
Significant temperature drop up to 10 and 12 degrees Celsius, initially in the North on Tuesday. Frost in Central and North mainland in the night hours of Tuesday, the early morning hours and night hours on Wednesday.

Locally heavy snowfalls in the mountainous and semi-mountainous areas of Thessaly, Central Sterea and North-East Peloponnese as of Tuesday afternoon and until Wednesday morning.
