Unknown perpetrators set the car of a television journalist on fire and blown it up. Journalist Mina Karamitrou is known for covering crime issues.
The attack took place at 2:30 early Tuesday morning, the car was parked in the open garage outside her home in Papagou suburb of North Athens.
The perpetrators had reportedly poured flammable liquid over the car and set it on fire. Neighbors alarmed the Fire Service.
No injuries have been reported, the car was completely damaged.
Minister of Public Order olga Gerovassili said “the press cannot be silenced. the perpetrators will be led to Justice.”
However, police does not seem to have lots of clues about the attackers as there were no security cameras in the area.
Fact is that the perpetrators knew the journalist’s home address and the car she was driving.
The attack was condemned by political parties.
Two hours later, unknown perpetrators attacked with firebombs the police station in Kaisariani suburb of Athens. Nobody was injured.
Police detained five people but released them a few hours later after it was found that they were not linked to the attack.
It is not known whether the two attacks are related.
