Greece’s National Meteorological service EMY issued a weather warning forecasting powerful rainfalls and thunderstorms and hail. At the same time, temperatures will remain high and reach up to 37 degrees Celsius in the shade.
According to the forecast for Monday, June 24, 2019, the summer storms weather will affect mainly Northern and Central Greece, including the Sporades islands.
The bad weather will affect Central and East Macedonia and Thrace as of early Monday morning.
As the weather front moves from East to the West, gradually will be affected also West Macedonia, Thessaly, the Sporades islands, temporarily also Epirus in the early afternoon and evening hours.
The phenomena are forecast to weaken at night.
In the affected areas, temperatures will slightly decrease, mainly in northern Greece, but will remain high in generally.
In Central mainland, the Eastern Aegean islands and Western Crete are expected to reach 36° – 37° Celsius in the shade.
Yesterday, Sunday, temperatures reached almost 40 degrees Celsius. According to meteo.gr service, the highest was recorded in Halki by Larissa, Central Greece, with 39.8°C.
