Greece’s Civil Protection warns of very high risk of forest fires due to soaring temperatures on Saturday, August 3, 2019. The presence of hot and dry air masses indicates that forest fires would be potentially uncontrolled.
According to the Greek Civil Protection at ‘very high risk” of forest fires are the following regions:
• Attica, Kythera, Viotia, Fthiotida, Fokida, Evia, Larissa, Magnisia and Lakonia
In regions marked with Yellow, the risk is “high”.
Greece’ s National Meteorological Service has issued a warning about a heatwave that will strike with temperatures up to 42-43 degrees Celsius.
At the same time, south winds bring particles of Sahara dust over the Greek mainland.
