Ferries remain docked due to gusty winds in the Aegean Sea (UPD)

Ferries will remain docked at the ports of Piraeus and Lavrio due to the gusty winds reaching up to 8 Beaufort and locally up to 9 B at night in the Aegean Sea. The order was given by the Shipping Ministry early Friday evening.

Only one ferry “Theologos” is allowed to leave the port of Rafina in South-East Attica for Andros, Tinos and Mykonos.

Sea traffic in the Saronic Gulf is only possible through closed-type vessels.

Powerful winds up to 9 Beaufort in the Aegean are forecast also for Saturday, September 14, 2019.

Meteorologists expect the winds to weaken as of Sunday night.

Meteorologist Dimitris Kolydas told Star TV that the ferries will most likely remain docked until late on Saturday.

UPDATE:
The sailing ban for ferries was lifted on Sunday, Sept 15th 2019, morning.

Sea travelers are kindly requested to contact local port authorities and travel agents.
