Helliniko Casino Resort: Joint Ministerial Decision opens way for bid

The Ministry of Development proceeded with the issuance of the fourth and the last Joint Ministerial Decisions concerning the planning of the property in Helliniko Project. The last of a series of JMD opens the way for the bid for the integrated Casino Resort.

Today’s Joint Ministerial decision allows investors to be aware of the potential use of land and as well as of the existing restrictions.

This decision is the last prerequisite for prospective bidders to submit their bid for the construction of the Integrated Resort Casino on Friday.

According to the data so far, Hard Rock International (HRI) and Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment (MGE) – GEKTERNA are expected to bid.

According to estimations, the winner could be even announced within 1-2 months from now, if there is no litigation by competitors, notes iferimerida.

Under the terms of the competition, the IRC (Integrated Resort Casino) is expected to expand to a wider area of ​​more than 600,000 square meters.

According to fortunegreece, the minimum requirements and technical specifications include:

1) Development of an international casino space comprising at least 120 tables, 1,200 slot machines (VLTs) and a total area of ​​12,000 (minimum) to 15,000 maximum), including prominent player venues (such as VIP, private lounge).

2) A hotel of at least 5-stars  with a capacity of at least 2,000 beds and a clean living space to serve the required needs of at least 60,000 sq.m.

3) Conference and exhibition center of a minimum area of ​​12,000 square meters.

4) Development of a public gathering area for sports or cultural events with a total number of seats equal to or greater than 3,000 sq.m.

The Helliniko Project altogether is expected to create 70,000 jobs.
