Workers at Athens Metro, Urban train and Tram have cancelled their work stoppages scheduled for Thursday, October 17, 2019. In a joint statement issued on Wednesday, workers said they cancel their protest mobilization after receiving assurances by the Transport Minister with regards to their collective bargain.
Last week, KTG reported:
Workers at Athens Metro, Urban Train ISAP/Metro Line 1 and the Tram have announced two work stoppages for Thursday, October 17, 2019.
The two work stoppages will take place from begin the morning shift until 09:00 a.m. and from 09:00 p.m. until the end of the night shift.
During the work stoppages there will be no Metro to/from Athens International Airport.
The Athens Metro, the Urban train and the Tram will operate only between 09:00 a.m. and 09:00 p.m.
With their strike mobilization, workers demand the extension of the collective bargain.
I would like to know what all these train, metro, ferry, farmers ( with tractors) stoppages have really gained for those workers. Probably nothing except putting off most of the inhabitants (and tourists) who are continually inconvenienced by all these events.
