A 17-meter tall Christmas tree has been set up on Syntagma square, opposite the Greek Palriament in downtown Athens. It is the first real tree since years. The tree has come all the way from the mountains of Karpenisi in western Greece.
The decoration of the tree and of Athens’ most popular square is continuing.
The official tree lighting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. next Tuesday, December 10, 2019.
The Mayor of Athens invites locals and tourists to attend the event that will be accompanied by a music program with Elena Paparizou, Idra Kayne, Ian Stratis with the Athens Big Band, and the Batala Atenas.
Highlight of the evening will be the 3D projection mapping on the building of the Greek Parliament, where bright colors, intense scenery and impressive architectural changes will be displayed.
