A foreign national was assassinated outside his house in Voula suburb of southern Athens late on Friday. Police is investigating the real identity of the victim, after it found that he man had two different identity cards from Belgium as well as a large amount of cash.
The man was executed with two bullets in the head by one assassin who escaped on a motorcycle with an accomplice. The assassination took place at the parking plot outside his home around 10 p.m. on Friday.
The assassin used a 9mm gun, media report citing police sources.
The victim was reportedly found to have a large sum of money, which could hardly be justified as to cover his daily needs.
The victim appeared as a Belgian businessman and was driving a car with Belgian license plates, media initially reported.
He was staying together with his Italian wife in an Airbnb apartment for the last two years, ANT1 TV said on Sunday.
While police is trying to identify the assassins, at the same time, it investigates the true identity of the victim, that is which of the ID cards was real or whether both were forged.
The victim’s wife reportedly testified to police that they had come to Greece two years ago together with their child, because her husband had a job at a company as consultant.
Greek police has reportedly already informed the Interpol about the case.
