Greece’s health authorities announced 204 new coronavirus cases and 5 more deaths that occurred in the last 24 hours. According to a statement on Thursday evening, the total infections have increased to 6,381 and death toll climbed to 221.
Infections rose to 1,951 since August 1.
Among the new cases 23 were detected among travellers.
Majority of the new cases were detected in Attica and for the first time health authorities that 12 were still under investigation.

The new 204 cases in the last 24 hours have been detected:
12 at the entry points in Greece.
11 are travelers in Greece who fell ill and sought health facilities to undergo a test that turned positive.
12 cases are still under investigation.
The remaining new cases are spread across the country in 30 regional units, with very few appearing to have escaped the pandemic. However, one should not rule out that there are infections also else where, however, the infected are asymptomatic, do not need hospitalization, and no Covid-19 test have been conducted in these areas.

The one case on the island of Chios refers to an employee at the hot spot of VIAL. The worker had returned from vacations on a Cyclades island.
One confirmed infection is in a hotel in Sindos that is hosting refugees and migrants. The hotel had been placed under quarantine.
There are 7 confirmed cases in Nafplio (Argolida) and another 7 in Kalamata.

According to the Health Ministry statement on Thursday, the daily growth is 3.3%
55% of the total of infected are men.
Of the total coronavirus cases, 1,557 (24.4%) are related to travel abroad, 3,110 (48.7%) are related to an already known case. The rest are cases not related to travel or another known case or are still under investigation.
Average age of the infected in 49 with age range between 0 and 102.
The rolling average number of infections in the last 7 days is 185 from 105 last Thursday, August 6.
Number of patients intubated in ICUs decreased to 22 from 24 a day earlier. Among them are 7 women. Average age of the intubated patients is 65.
54.5% of intubated patients had underlying health issues and age over 70 years.
The intubation from the 27-year-old doctor in Larissa has been removed.
136 patients have been discharged from the ICUs since the beginning of the outbreak.
Number of coronavirus-related deaths increased to 221 in last 24 hours.
Among the deceased were 75 women. The average age of the deceased was 77 with range age between 35 and 102.
95.9% had underlying health issues and/or were over 70 years old.
Tests
Total coronavirus tests since the beginning of the outbreak in February is 687,338. Of them 7,866 (1.14%) were positive – among them are several tests conducted to one patient.
Of 7,463 tests in the last 24 hours, 2.7% were positive.

Nothing is going to change until the tourist “season” is over. We will then be left to deal with the aftermath and hope that we can bring it back to what it was, which was one of the best places to be on earth.
What exactly is problem with tourists when there is only 10% of them tested positive and 90% of cases are domestic ones?
