Daily coronavirus cases in Greece remain high, and 354 new cases were added in the last 24 hours, even though tests were much lower than the target of over 15,000 per day. Health authorities announced three more deaths on Wednesday.
The total cases have reached 18,475. Death toll increased to 391.
For one more day, the overwhelming majority of daily infections are located in Attica and Athens: 195 out of 354.
29 of the new cases were detected among tourists.

A total of 121 Covid-19 patients lost died in the month of September, that is an average of 4 people per day. Note that from the outbreak in late February intil July 23, the number of coronavirus-related deaths was 200.
During the weekly live briefing, head of Civil Protection Nikos Hardalias said that there are currently 5,379 active Covid-19 cases.
Media report late on Wednesday dozens of confirmed cases tests in a home for elderly in central Athens. According to preliminary reports, there are at least 32 confirmed cases. There is no official information, it is not known whether the positive tests refer to elderly and/or personnel. The country’s top epidemiologist Sotiris Tsiodras and head of Civil Protection Nikos Hardalias have rushed to the nursing home.
Meanwhile, in an extraordinary meeting on Wednesday the Civil Protection decided the “strong recommendation” to residents of several settlements in the Municipality of Thiva, Viotia, and of Halkida, Evia. Residents should avoid necessary movement, stay at home, wear mask in- and outdoors. Student should not go to school and workers should not move to other areas.

According to the official daily bulletin on Wednesday, 2927(15.8%) of the total cases are related to travel abroad and 7508(41.1%) are related to already known infection case.
Almost half of the cases have unknown origin.
56.1% of the infected are men.
The number of intubated patients in ICUs deceased to 78 from 79 a day earlier. Their average age is 69, among them are 22 women. 87.2% have underlying health problems or are aged over 70.
212 people have been discharged from ICUs since the start of the pandemic in Greece.
Three more deaths in the last 24 hours increased death toll to 391. Of the deceased 144 were women. The average age of the deceased was 78 and 96.7% of the deceased had an underlying condition or/and was over 70 years old.
Total tests since begin of outbreak are 1,307,549.
Tests in the last 24 hours: 10,753 with 3.29% of them positive.
Daily growth at +2.0%.

Of the 354 new coronavirus cases, 56 are related to known clusters and 23 were detected at the country’s entry points.
Majority of new cases are recorded in Attica
23 of the new cases were detected at entry points; another 6 travelers already in the country sought laboratories after they developed symptoms.
