Greece’s Civil Protection announced on Monday evening the exact restrictions imposed to the whole regional units of Thessaloniki and Serres as the full lockdown goes into force from 06:00 am Tuesday, 3. November 2020, and for 14 days.
The restrictions affect among others travel and movement, operation of schools and churches, suspension of operation of several sectors. High-schools are closed and religious services are allowed without the presence of the faithful.
According to the press released posted on the Civil Protection website the following is valid during the lockdown. Note that the restrictions are more specific than the ones announced earlier on Monday by the government spokesman.
Wholesale, industry, hotels, and schools remain open. It is emphasized that distance education is compulsory in all high schools, as well as in the Higher Education Institutions.
In these two regional units, there is a 24-hour restriction on travel with exceptions per time zone (05.00 am to 09:00 pm) and from 09:00 pm to 05:00 pm). Residents of these areas will be able to move around with the sending of ssms to <13033> (free of charge) as in the first lockdown in spring.
It is noted that the movement to and from work for working hours or during work if necessary, is done exclusively with a relevant type A certificate of the employer. No sms needed.
Specifically:
For the zone 05:00 am-09:00 pm movements are allowed ONLY for the following reasons:
1. For health reasons (going to a pharmacy, visiting a doctor or going to a hospital or health center, if this is recommended after relevant communication). [SMS – Option 1]
2. For purchase of essential supplies, where delivery not possible. [SMS – Option 2]
3. Going to a public services, if the electronic or telephone service is not possible only for urgent needs, after setting an appointment for which the citizen is informed in writing or electronically and under the additional condition of showing the above information. Go to the bank, to the extent that electronic transaction is not possible. [SMS – Option 3]
4. Provide assistance to people in need. Transfer to/from the place of work of a spouse or first degree relative, if necessary. Transfer of a minor to/from school [SMS – Option 4]
5. Attend a ceremony (eg funeral) under the conditions provided by law or going to divorced parents or separated parents to ensure necessary communication between parents and children, in accordance with the provisions in force. [SMS – Option 5]
6. Physical exercise outdoors or walking with a pet, individually or in pairs of two (2) persons, provided that in the latter case the necessary distance of one and a half (1.5) meters is observed. Transition for feeding stray animals, if the transition takes place within the municipality of residence of the citizen. [SMS – Option 6]
For the period 09:00 pm-05:00 am: movement is allowed ONLY for work purposes [with employer certificate type A, without SMS], health [SMS – Option 1] and individual movement with a pet [SMS – Option 6].
It is also noted that the transfer of minor children to/from the school is allowed by a parent / guardian by sending an SMS – Option 4 and with a certificate/document by the School Management, which states the address of the school unit and the home address of the student.
It is forbidden to travel outside the Regional Units of Thessaloniki and Serres. Air and rail transport abroad is suspended, while allowed is the domestic transport ONLY for strictly professional and health reasons.
In addition these measures are during the lockdown :
The operation of retail (excluded retail stores for food, such as super-markets, mini-markets, etc., as well as pet shops), hairdressers and personal hygiene services is suspended.
The catering remains in suspension, while delivery services are allowed.
The grocery stores are open until 08:30 pm, while their operation is also planned for the weekend.
In transport, there is a limit on the number of passengers in a car up to 1 person in addition to the driver (excluding minor children).
Suspended playgrounds include playgrounds and amusement parks / theme parks.
In the places of worship, the services are performed without the presence of believers, while only funeral ceremonies with the presence of up to 9 people are allowed.
