Same rules as on Christmas apply for New Year’s Eve & Day, says Greece

Head of Greece’s Civil protection Nikos Hardalias said on Tuesday that the same rules as over the two Christmas days will apply also for New Year’s Eve and Day regarding celebrations at homes and in churches.

The night curfew will be in force from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. also on New Year’s Eve and Day.

Two families can participate at the festive table, maximum 9 people.

On New Year’s Day the faithful can attend religious services maximum 25 people in ordinary churches and up to 50 in Metropolises.

It should be recalled that those wanting to visit families over the Christmas Eve and Day had to sms to 13033 <6> for “personal exercise.” They had to repeat the sms when returning home.

It should also be recalled that movement from municipality to municipality was permitted but to travel to another regional unit was not allowed.

On New Year’s Eve supermarkets close at 8 pm and are closed on January 1.

Some are also closed on Jan 2 due to inventory registration.
