Greece will permit entry of 10,000 vaccinated Israelis per week, starting Tuesday, March 23, 2021, following an agreement between the two countries to accept citizens with a certificate of vaccination, Israeli Foreign Minister said in a statement.
According to the Israeli press, Greek Tourism Minister Haris Theoharis informed the Israeli Ambassador to Athens, Yossi Amrani, on Monday evening that the country’s council of ministers had approved Israel’s Green Pass, a certificate indicating that its holder is fully vaccinated or recovered from Covid-19.
This means that tourists will not need a negative test or quarantine on arrival to Greece. The deal currently foresees a cap of 10,000 Israelis entering the country per week.
“The decision of the Greek government is the result of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ effort, together with the Ministry of Health and Transportation and discussions led by Foreign Minister [Gabi] Ashkenazi with our partners in the international community, to promote mutual recognition of a vaccine certificate and open the skies to Israeli tourism,” the Foreign Ministry was quoted as saying in a statement reported by Israeli news website i24news on Monday.
During a visit of Greek Prime Minister to Israel beginning of February, Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Benjamin Netanyahu agreed on a “digital vaccination passport.”
Will their ‘phones work to send an SMS if they want to go for a walk?
So with tourists wandering around all over Greece, some of which will no doubt hire cars, the government really think that the Greek people are going to stay in lockdown?
Not a cat in hell’s chance.
In the words of victor, I DON’T BLOODY BELIEVE IT!!!
I can’t for the life of me understand this. Why would anyone want to come here and do what? There is nothing open except for hairdressers. It’s a long why to come to get your hair done!!
No retail, restaurants or bars open. Do we expect our tourists to sit in a hotel room?
Well, since we are not allowed to travel within Greece but they can, maybe bars and restaurants will open for these tourists only and not for residents.
But even in this scenario, there is a strong likelihood that the people working in the tourist pubs and restaurants have NOT been vaccinated.
This will later be an issue for the tourist industry in general.
Sit on a beach in Crete I guess? Is it warm enough there yet? Bloody <10 degrees here t'up North!
I do not understand how our children come last in line. Are they not the future of this country. In most European countries Schools are as important if not more than anything else. I can not comprehend. No one talks about the kids and the potential opening of the schools.

PS
Greek civil aviation have extended flight restrictions into Greece until 5th April
So how are our Israeli friendly tourists going to get here,
CAA may issue a new notam for Israel any time it wants
So they can come and have a jolly holiday while we on Crete are not allowed to visit Athens? Crazy.
Does anyone know if our Israeli visitors will be allowed to travel to islands or between prefectures freely? If so, when will this be extended to Greeks and residents?
[I am *valiantly* suppressing the snarky comments that I would love to make… but really, y’all go ahead.]
