Greece’s National Meteorological Service EMY issued a weather warning especially for the islands in central and south-eastern Aegean Sea, including the island of Crete. EMY has warned of heavy rainfalls and strong thunderstorms and gale-force winds up 9 Beaufort.
The barometric low will be of short duration, of no longer than 48 hours. It is forecast to affect mostly the Cyclades islands, the Dodecanese and Crete, and possibly also south parts of mainland including Athens.
According to meteo.gr, the weather phenomena are expected to be most intense during the hours of 9 a.m. to 12 noon and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31.
Gale-force winds may affect sailing and sea traffic.
Cyclades islands will be affected form the early morning hours of Wednesday, March 31, and until the early morning hours of Thursday, April, 1, 2021.
