A delivery-man has been arrested as suspect to have stolen a vial with anti-covid vaccine from a vaccination center in northern Athens. The 46-year-old man is been accused by the doctors of the center in Agia Paraskevi suburb of northern Athens.
According to media reports, the man works for a coffee shop nearby and had delivered the order to the staff. He didn’t immediately go away, though, but he involved the staff into discussion about the vaccines and how effective they are.
When he had left, the staff at the center realized the missing of a vial with Pfizer vaccine. From the vial, one to two doses had been used at the center.
The staff called the police and accused the delivery man for the theft.
Police arrested the man who denied the accusations. A case file was formed and the man was later released, pending trial.
The incident reportedly took place noon last Tuesday.
So far, the missing vial has not been found.
Given the special temperature conditions under which it has to be kept, it is also useless by now.
There have been 4 to 5 incidents of vaccine vials theft in the country, all cases have been solved by police, media reported.
