Head of Civil Protection Nikos Hardalias and the general secretary for Trade and Consumers Protection, Panagiotis Stamboulidis announced the restriction measures during the Holy Week and the Greek Orthodox Easter as well the working conditions for shopping and restaurants. The measures include provisions for religious services and shorten night curfew hours from April 25.
The ban of inter-regional travel remains, however the inter-municipality movement within one regional unit is allowed.
Night Curfew
10 p.m. to 5 a.m. throughout the Holy Week April 26 -May 1, and the Easter Day, May 2.
11 p.m. to 5 p.m. starting on Monday, May 3, 2021.
Religious Services
Mandatory use of double masks for faithful in- and outside the churches.
Covid self-tests for priests and chanters.
Limited number of people inside the churches.
Procession of the Epitaph on Holy Friday only in the churches courtyard without the presence of believers.
Jesus Resurrection on Holy Saturday will be celebrated at 9 p.m. instead of midnight.
Movement/Travel
Travel to regional units other than of the residence is prohibited until May 10. Exceptions only for health, work or family issues (funeral, reunification) under strict provisions and necessary documents.
In case of Athens/Attica, movement is not allowed outside the boundaries of the region as well as to/from the regional unit of the islands {Saronic Gulf].
KTG understands that the movement between different municipalities is allowed however, within the boundaries of the same regional unit as the residence. Then authorities allowed the reopening of malls, shopping centers and discount villages since Saturday, April 24..
Easter Day celebrations
Allowed are to gather up to two families, i.e. up to 9 people inside the house and up to 12 people if [lunch celebrations] outdoors.
Restaurants & Cafes
Restaurants and cafes will be allowed to open again on May 3, with the known safety measures and self-tests for the staff twice per week.
Allowed are seated customers only and only outdoors.
Up to 6 people per table.
Shopping
It should be recalled that retail shopping is possible with sms to <13032> when the user writes only his name. Allowed are 3 hours of shopping and only once per day.
Due to the particularity of the Holy Week, shops are open (voluntarily) 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Exceptions: Holy Friday, April 30, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Holy Saturday, May 1, from 7:00 a.m.to 6:00 p.m.
Note that the sms to <13033> for the usual 6 exit options is still in force.

I notice that you say KTG “understands” that the movement between different municipalities is allowed. Do you have any reference to where this statement is made? The briefing by Nikos Hardalias and Panagiotis Stamboulidis on 23 April, see https://www.civilprotection.gr/el/simantika-themata/enimerosi-syntakton-apo-yfypoyrgo-politikis-prostasias-diaheirisis-kriseon-n-2 , contains most of the information BUT there is no mention of inter-municipality travel, e.g. for supermarket shopping or exercise. Was there a later briefing and is it published somewhere in Greek?
exercise allowed in different municipality over weekend since few weeks ago & people form suburbs go shopping in downtown Athens.
What about FOOD shopping? Are we still only allowed to shop within 2kms of our residence? There are lots of foods I cannot get locally but are available 27kms away in Ierapetra. I need some decent food at decent prices. Any information on that particular scenario please? Thank you
Jo, The food shopping is anywhere inside the municipality. It is only within 2km if you live on the border of a municipality and have to stray into another one I guess. I also read the rule wrongly to begin with. You still only have a 2hr limit to get there and back or 3 hrs with the other text number for non food shops. so get a fast car! Happy shopping!
