The Greek Coast Guard was set on alert when the sinking of a sailing boat off the island of Poros was reported to operation center. A Search and Rescue operation was launched immediately.
The boat reportedly capsized 1.9 nautical miles West off the island in the Saronic Gulf.
The nine passengers, all Romanian nationals, were collected by a vessel sailing nearby and were taken to Poros port.
According to the Coast Guard all passengers are safe and well.
The reasons for the capsize of the Greek-flagged sailing boat remain unknown.
North winds were blowing with intensity of 4 to 5 Beaufort in the area.
