Greece expands booster shot program to those aged over 50

Greece expands the booster shot roll out to those over 50 year old and opens the online platform so that citizens can make appointments for the 3rd dose shot of the vaccine against Covid-19 on Sunday, October 10, 2021, health authorities announced at the weekly Live Briefing on Thursday evening.

Everyone over 50, whether with underlying conditions (Levels 1, 2) or not, will be able to set online appointments for the third dose of the vaccination against Covid-19 as of October 10 (Sunday), Primary Health Care Services Secretary General Marios Themistocleous said.

The Vaccination Committee recommended that people aged over 50 go ahead and get the booster shot, following those aged 60 or over as well as health care workers.

The booster shot for those over 50 is recommended six months after the full vaccination of 2 vaccine doses.

For those who received single-dose vaccine from Johnson & Johnson is still to be decided whether they will receive the booster shot from Pfizer or Moderna, Themistokleous said on Friday.
