Mass fake vaccinations have been taking place in dozens of vaccination centers throughout Greece, media reported on Sunday. The bribe fee for doctors and nurses is apparently 400 euros. the fee is paid is by those who do not want to receive the vaccines against Covid-19 but want to gain access to several activities or simply avoid the twice per week Rapid tests for professional and other reasons.
But then a hilarious thing happened: Doctors pocketed the bribe but administered real vaccine and not “water” in order to avoid getting into trouble should the fake vaccination come out, according to a report by Mega TV.
According to newspaper tovima, some 100 to 200 vaccination centers out of 2,000 in total and the participation of some 200-300 doctors and nurses have been involved in such fake vaccinations and/or in efforts to alter the vaccination data. It estimated that over 100,000 citizens have obtained fake vaccination certificates through illegal methods.
Under continuous cross-checks by health authorities inspectors are vaccination centers in Athens, Karditsa in western Macedonia and several areas in Peloponnese following a storm of denouncements and reports.
Greek Police has reportedly dismissed part of the tovima-report on Sunday without elaborating on details.
Fake Vaccinations with the real thing: It’s complicated
Can you imagine? Duped antivaxxers could have the usual side effects of the vaccine, go to doctors for a check and find out that they were administered the real thing.
On the positive side: they now have antibodies against the coronavirus.
On the negative side, though: they underwent a medical treatment without their consent.
Can they sue the doctors? Yes, if they admit they bribed them with the aim of a fake vaccination certificate.
Therefore such a legal action is hardly possible.
Another side effect of the fake vaccinations is how real is the vaccination rate in Greece, the actual epidemiological data and the immunity wall.
Investigating all these issues is a challenge for the Greek government that is eager to have the economy return to normality as soon as possible.
I don’t think that’s hilarious — I think it’s shocking that doctors should take money for something they haven’t done.
I’m not sure if you’re being serious but bribery in Greece is hardly shocking. My wedding was postponed for a month because we refused to pay the bribe to the official. Absolutely dead-wrong, unethical, and shouldn’t happen? Yes. Shocking, in Greece? No.
That being said, I do find this incident pretty hilarious. Besides, where is the responsibility of those offering the bribes? It’s one thing if a person in a position of power requests or requires a bribe but I think it was probably the other way around here.
Did you read the article?
sounds like bullshit end to end
If you are stupid enough to try and bribe a doctor to inject you with water…
A fool and his money are easily parted
Something like this can only happen in a completely corrupt country (doctors AND civilians) like Greece….
Everyone is in the wrong here. As much as I hate these commie things, still not cool to try and game the system. At the same time injecting people with anything they do not want is a huge crime against individual rights
What “commie things”?
Communism is anything “freedom lovers” don’t like.
Communism is anything “freedom lovers” have been told to not like.
So body autonomy, consent, medical confidentiality is in toilet. Now we only have to ban abortions.
This article is a shocking indictment of Greek professional service providers , who routinely take cash inducements for providing services to the public based on a misguided belief that the recipient of that service will somehow receive preferential treatment.
I myself have witnessed elderly Greeks handing over hundreds of euros for a service that is payed for by the state.
Further more ,no receipt is ever given ,which is the only way to prove any service has been provided.
So in affect you get a receipt when you buy a coffee but no receipt when you consult a lawyer ,doctor ,or engineer. This situation must change or Greece will remain the fiscal laughing stock of the business world.
I doubt it will ever change it’s gone on too long. The only hope is that when the next crisis hits, and it will, Greece won’t be bailed out it will be left to sink.
The people still have their autonomy but they need to live with the consequences of their choices. The problem is they tried to get a fake vaccination including a certificate, this has nothing to do with bodily autonomy.
Body autonomy does not extend to being a disease vector any more than it extends to punching someone with your fist.
The cheaters that wanted to cheat the system are cheated by other cheaters that cheat the system and feel cheated.
Exactly, last year I gave a simple brief to a lawyer in kalamata, to check a property contract for error.
First thing she said €200 without a receipt €250 without.
I asked without a receipt how can I sue you if your work is bad or you offer me incorrect information.
She looked at me as if I came from Venus .
This sums Greece up for the corrupt place it is. I’ve left now I couldn’t stand it any longer.
What can be expected when you consider today’s political “leaders”? The fish rots from the head down.
Is there no end to the corruption and outright criminality of doctors across the world? Disgusting.
It ends at the Greek border.
*Laughs in Russian*
*rolling on the floor laughing in Croatian*
The doctors who lied and administered the real vaccine were on sound legal grounds. Their patients were trying to commit fraud, but nominally requested the real vaccine. As the real vaccine was administered according to law, the doctors did nothing wrong. However, their patients could still be found guilty of attempted fraud.
Is accepting a bribe being on sound legal ground? Genuine question.
1. “The doctors are on sound legal grounds.”
I wonder if they are. Is acceptance of a bribe legally sound? Genuine question.
2. “The doctors did nothing wrong.”
Hippocrates would probably disagree. Seems to me they did two wrongs. Or does Greek law endorse invasive procedures without consent?
Well I think they have given their formal consent in attempt to get vaccination record, legal one. The bribe attempt was illegal as well as their attempt to skip vaccination while getting certificate. Technically, doctors were accepting gifts, because they did not commit any vaccination crime in the end. It will be possible to prove they had intentions of giving vaccine anyway, considering they were acting in organised groups across country.
“Always look on the bright side of life”. At least the doctors did not inject bleach.
so true.
