Coronavirus infections break all time record: 4,696 cases; distribution

New coronavirus infections in Greece broke a daily record on Saturday with 4,696, the highest number since August 24 when 4,608 infections were confirmed on a single day. Health authorities announced also 38 deaths in past 24 hours. The number of Covid-patients in hospital ICUs exceeded 400 and reach 404 from 392 a day earlier.

Since the pandemic began, Greece has confirmed 739,448 infections (daily change: +0.6%). Of the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 159 infections are related to travel from abroad and 3,023 to other confirmed cases.

Rolling average 3,596 from 3,155 last week.

38 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, brought the total of pandemic victims to 15,894. Of these, 95.4 pct had an underlying condition and/or were aged 70 or over.

404 Covid-oatients are on ventilators in hospitals. Their median age is 65 years and 79.7% have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or over.

Of the total, 344 (85.15%) are unvaccinated or partly vaccinated and 60 (14.85%) are fully vaccinated.

3,312 have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began.

277 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change: -6.1%). The average admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last 7 days was 263.

The median age of new infections is 39 years (range: 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of the deceased is 78 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).

  1. Horrible figures! You can lay the blame on the anti-vaxxers and all the lacy ones shoulders! WHEN will they understand this is serious??? They infect the whole society around them!!

    • You are so right. The antivaxxer movement uses illusion and fairy tales to develop their point of view … not science and statistics.

      It is their ‘community spread’ (family, friends, neighbors) that is making these numbers spike.
